Untitled #43

Untitled #43

Wasn't sure what to call this piece so for now it is Untitled, kind of rolls off the tongue doesn't it?

Since I'm going through this weight loss journey every time I get on Polyvore I always try to picture the pieces I'll buy when I lose all my weight, it's quite fun! I just need a job to be able to afford a brand new wardrobe because essentially that's what I'm going to have to do.

I really liked this outfit though. I like the whole shirt dress things, I'm sure you could throw some leggings under this and still look trendy if you're on the taller side. The scarf and cheetah flats are what tops it off for me. Infinity scarves and cheetah print are definitely in right now so I think this outfit is perfect, kind of makes me wish I could have it. But alas, no job equals no money which equals a sad Brittany.

But soon, very very soon that will all change and I can't wait (:

Fashion vs. Journalism?

So I am in my first TAM (Textile & Apparel Management) class this semester and so far I love it! The first few days were full of stuff that watching shows like The City and paying attention in Econ senior year taught me, but it was cool to see it applied to what I want to do.

Being in that class is so exciting. I feel the way I felt when I used to learn new things about journalism, but now that feeling for journalism is dwindling. I know I still have a lot to learn about the journalism industry, just as I still have a lot to learn about the fashion industry, but I used to get so excited to learn new things about the journalism industry and now I just don't.

As of now I am double majoring in Journalism and Mizzou's TAM program with a minor in business, but I could see that changing. I'm not sure. I think I should definitely get through my first  college journalism class before I rule anything out.

I know both industries can be hard to break into, but as of now I have more of a push for fashion. It's hard for me, I never really thought I'd even consider giving up on journalism. I've always wanted to do something with writing since Kindergarten! It's scary to even admit that I might be changing my mind.

At this point only time will tell.

Until next time, stay fabulous!

I have joined the world of Pinterest

After lost of pull from my friends and few comments from my followers I decided to get a Pinterest and I am already hooked!

As if my 5 blogs, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube weren't enough to keep me occupied I've added another to the mix. I'll probably just be repining things I like or that interest me, nothing too special. I do however, have a separate page for styles and fashion trends I like. So check it out, follow me if you'd like, I'll follow you too (:

Back to School

Back to School

Well, school is officially back in full swing and I couldn't be happier.

Secretly one of my "resolutions" was to dress nicer for class, that lasted two days because today I was scrubbing (looking rough) and I had no shame! I mean I am there to learn before anything else right?

Above is a rendition of what I wore the first day of class. Only I wore leggings and a purple long-sleeved shirt with my gray knit UGGS. However, if I would have had all the outfit pieces I would have worn something more like what is pictured above.  It's simple and comfy yet fashion forward enough to look put together as you go to your classes.

But today I just couldn't say no to one of my oversized sweatshirts, leggings and moccasins. It's just too comfy! Maybe I'll try harder tomorrow :P

No matter what you strut to class in, I hope you all have a wonderful semester! I know I plan to!

CoMo Love

CoMo Love

CoMo Love by wanna-be-fashionista featuring grey boots

It is finally time for me to go back to school and tomorrow my family and I will be making the 7 hour trip back to Columbia. It's almost too good to be true, I have missed college so much!

Naturally, I'll be squeeze-puffing it (leggings with an oversized sweatshirt or noodie). I mean I will be in a car with my family for 7 hours or more, I need to at least be comfy. I'll also be putting my new Dr. Dre Beats headphones to use, so I don't have to hear my brother and sister fighting and my mom yelling or worse...snoring.

But I told myself I was going to enjoy this time, it is the last time I'll be with my family for a while, so might as well make the best of it.

Enjoy your 3-day weekend!

Back to School

While most high schools have already started the next semester and most colleges are starting on Monday, I still have an entire week left to kill. I miss CoMo dearly and all my friends, but at the same time I want to enjoy this week because all the responsibilities I'm about to have are going to be ridiculous.

So since I figured I'd have nothing better to do for the next week I decided to decorate my notebooks. It is the perfect creative/busy work project I need to get me through this next week, I started cutting out things today and I'm even going to show you guys how to do them!

These notebooks don't really have a name, it's more of a collage if you will just on the front cover of a notebook, it's way cheaper than buying cute notebooks at Wal-Mart. All you need is the following:

Magazines

Notebooks

Scissors

Glue Stick(s) & Transparent Tape

I start out buy flipping through old magazines, I always save my old magazines because you never know when you're going to have to do a creative project for school or work and cutting things out of magazines is cheaper than using colored ink from a printer, and it allows you to get more creative. I look for words, pictures and quotes I like and cut them out as neatly or as sloppy as I like.

I decided that some of my notebooks are going to have themes, for example my Fashion class notebook for next year will have words like New York City or Fashion all over it, along with some of my favorite designers. Classes that I think might be a little boring will have cute guys on them so maybe it'll make me stare at my notebook and eventually take notes (wishful thinking?).

Once I think I have enough to completely cover my notebook I begin to lay them out in a manner I like.

I then carefully pick each piece up one at a time and glue it back down (sometimes I just take a picture and go off of that, depends on how much time I have).

Next, I carefully take the transparent tape and tape one long piece vertically down the spiral side, I continue adding vertical strips of tape until the entire notebook is covered (it helps if they are a little long so you can tuck them around the notebooks edges).

And Vola! You're done and have a cute, original notebook that shows your personality and style!

The total time it takes to do this honestly depends, I can generally do 1 notebook in a day, it just depends on how much of a perfectionist I decide to be. But with these I cut all the stuff out the day before and finished 4 of them the next day and knocked out the other one pretty quickly the following day.

I hope everyone has a great semester back at school and let me know if you decide to try this, I'd love to see the finished product!

Afternoon Appointments

Afternoon Appointments

Hello fabulous people, I hope you all enjoyed your weekend and are ready to get back to work and school tomorrow! I'm still on winter break so for me tomorrow will be filled with appointments and errands, mainly my eye appoint, I've got to get better glasses so I actually see what my professors are teaching (yikes!). So of course I'll be wearing my go to look, leggings and a noodie (hoodie-hood= no hoodie--> noodie, crew neck if you're normal). I'm hoping to score some Ray Ban frames, but we'll see if they're in my price range.

I know one thing is for sure I'll be in lots of waiting rooms with nothing to keep me entertained but fashion magazines, I guess I need to catch up on my reading anyway ;)

Have a good week guys!

P.S. I'm working on a project and I am pretty excited about I hope you guys feel the same when I post it, it's a DIY type thing if you will.

Indian Summer

Indian Summer

I'm not sure about where you guys are living, but in Indiana the weather has been oddly...nice. Today we definitely experienced a bit of an Indian Summer (hence, the title). Besides the snow we got (two days AFTER Christmas) it's been sunshine and today it was actually warm, like mid 50s. Of course, I let that nice weather go to waste. I just didn't feel like doing anything.

However, I think the warm weather was just the kick I needed to get my creative juices flowing. I really like this outfit, simple, comfortable and practical. You can wear it to work in the summer, simply by adding a cardigan, and once you get off toss the cardi in the trunk and head to your friends bonfire or BBQ!

I love the blue shirt the best, it isn't too form fitting and with its design you can even hide a bit, if you want to wait to unveil your new kick ass bikini body at the beach ;)

Where has my inspiration gone?

Sorry for the lack of posts in the new year, I haven't had much inspiration (and I've had a pretty booked week).

Every time I try to sit and create something on Polyvore it just doesn't come to me. It's sad.

Not to mention trying to figure out my living situation for next year and get a job in my college's town is driving me nuts!

I guess I'll try again tomorrow and see what I can come up with. Just wanted you guys to know I haven't forgotten about you!

The City

I'm not sure if anyone that reads this actually wants to make a fashion a career choice, but I still figured this post would be worth it.

I've always loved fashion, more so the styling side, I liked putting things together and in high school I liked giving my opinion about the latest trends in my school's paper. It actually wasn't until college that I realized what little I know about fashion. Now, I still don't know everything, but honestly a great place to start is the hit MTV show The City.

Now if you ask me, I think they ended the show too soon, probably because ratings weren't where they needed to be, but honestly this is one of the shows that MTV should've fought a little harder for. It didn't come with the petty drama we saw on The Hills or Laguna Beach, where a whole bunch of size 2 blonde haired "bimbo" type girls ran around LA and Orange  County in bikinis yelling "Ste-phen" and crying over boys that didn't deserve their tears. The City was a lot more real, it showed the fashion industry in a very realistic light, in yet doesn't make it seem negative or fake like the media tends to do.

For those of you that don't know The City was Whitney Port's spin of from The Hills. Whitney an intern at Teen Vogue and People's Resolution, had finally realized that she had done all the growing she could do in LA and decided to chase after her dream in the city where fashion reigns: New York.

Here she meets a boy, gets into some drama and lands an awesome job styling for Diane Von Fersenburg (DVF) only to wind up back at People's Revolution in New York where the queen bitch of them all, Kelly Cutrone helps her start her own fashion line Whitney Eve. In between all of that you see what kind of mind and perseverance it really takes to work in the fashion industry, not only that, but I learned a lot about designers and even how magazines work, things that will be quite helpful as I begin to find my place in the fashion world.

Anyway, I say all this to say, if you want to know a bit more about fashion, specifically the inner workings of fashion magazines and designer names, but don't feel like reading (or you just want some drama thrown in to spice it up) consider watching this show. It's only two seasons and it's on Netflix Instant. I know all you students out there have a few more days before you have to head back to school, check it out. You won't be disappointed.

Leave me a comment and tell me what you think!
