Winter Time Blues

Winter Time Blues

It's March, bring on the rain and warm weather! Anyone else feel this way. Missouri gave us a little tease of spring two weeks ago when the temperature almost hit 70 degrees, but now we're supposed to be getting six to nine inches of snow! What's up with that?

Well, I guess if we can't bring on spring just yet, we can take the opportunity to wear some winter favorite one more time. Grab your favorite pair of dark wash jeans, an oversized cardi and your fluffiest infinity scarf and step out in style. You'll look trendy, but most importantly, you'll be warm!

What's your favorite go to outfit to beat the winter time blues?

Super Bowl Sunday

Super Bowl Sunday

Super Bowl Sunday by wanna-be-fashionista featuring black leggings

Well, it's that time of year again, Super Bowl Sunday! Growing up I was always so excited because it was the one day my mom didn't force us to eat our veggies at dinner time and my siblings and I were always allowed to stay up late to see the final outcome of the game.

Being from Indianapolis, I was born and raised a Colts fan (hence why I will still be wearing Colts gear today) however, I would love to see Peyton get another ring. He may be a Bronco, but he will always be a Colt at least to Indianapolis, which is why I'd love to see him win.

Even though I won't be with my family tonight, I will still be with friends that I love dearly as we cheer on the Broncos and Seahawks (and as I scream like a 12 year old girl for Bruno Mars).

Regardless of your plans tonight I hope you all have fun and stay safe!

Much love,

Brittany

Snowed In

Snowed In

Snowed In by wanna-be-fashionista featuring black leggings

So, if you're anything like me (and what seems like the rest of the country) you're experiencing bitter cold weather and you may even be snowed in. I'll admit, the idea of a snow day is always exciting, but that's usually when I'm in school and get an extra 24 hours to work on that assignment I didn't do my best on, not when I'm still on winter break at my parents house and dying to get out! I haven't even been able to hit the gym all week!

Luckily, things are looking up, tomorrow central Indiana's forecast calls for warm and sunny 30 degrees tomorrow, which is 60 whole degrees warmer than today and yesterday, so I guess I'll take it.

The good new is, being snowed in takes the pressure off of looking too nice, but who's to say you can't still chill (or get work done) in style? I don't know about you all, but I've been rocking variations of this look for the past few days, comfy, cute and warm!

But I must say, I'm ready for a little freedom from my house (and bed). School starts in two weeks and I've got to get my mind into school mode again. Every semester is a step closer to real adulthood *shudders* not sure I'm ready, but it's going to come eventually!

I hope you all are staying warm and safe, and those of you starting school this week, good luck, start strong!

Best,

Brittany

Go Colts!

Go Colts!

You all may or may not know this, but I love football! My favorite team (besides Mizzou of course) are the Indianapolis Colts! My boys advanced to the playoffs this season and play their first game today against the Kansas City Cheifs and this lucky girl has tickets!

I want to make sure I was comfy, but warm walking to the stadium and cheering on my team, so I went for a long sleeve shirt and winter vest. It's the perfect fashion forward combo, but will also keep me comfortable and warm.

I opted for riding boots instead of UGGS because mine are a bit cheaper (or a lot cheaper!) so if any fans get a little too crazy, my boots won't suffer because of it. However, with the amount of snow we've gotten here in Indiana, I might go for my Hunter rain boots instead!

What do you like to wear on game day? I'd love to get ideas!

In the meantime, go Colts!

NYE Under $150

NYE

NYE by wanna-be-fashionista featuring long sleeve dresses

Happy New Year! I hope you all enjoyed your holidays and your New Years Eve! Unfortunately, I was sick during the holidays and didn't have much energy to go out last night, but I did enjoy a night back at my hometown church and watching the ball drop from my parent's big comfy chair.

I'd like to think if I did go out, this is what I would have ended up in. Most girls go for sequins, but I personally think looking sleek in black, hints of gold and pearls will never be a bad idea! Plus, this outfit pictured above is all under $150 and they are all pieces you can wear again (unlike that sequined two piece outfit Miley choose to wear, am I right?).

Anyway, I trust you all had a wonderful night and hopefully a fun day of recovering. I wish you all luck, prosperity and many blessings in the new year. I know it's going to be great!

Stay Beautiful,

Brittany

Back to School

Back to School

Back to School by wanna-be-fashionista featuring stud earrings

I'll admit, I had some trouble creating this (and I'm still not sure I am happy with it) maybe its because I don't even know what I am wearing for my first day. I mean I'll be starting my junior year, usually by then most college students are done trying, but I just can't leave my house in something typical, I like dressing up, plus, I'll be doing it in two years anyway, what better practice than to do it now.

I think my problem with this outfit is that its a lot of trends in one outfit: lace shorts, peplum top and pop of color blazer. I love them all, but I'm not sure they would all go together. Plus, with missouri weather, it'll probably be too hot for a blazer anyway.

I guess it comes down to rocking whatever you feel comfortable in. I'm sure I'll end up in black shorts and an oversized vnecks and just play it up with accessories, it comfy and easy.

I'll be headed back to Columbia tomorrow for work training and I am excited, but not quite ready to leave, I think I just wanted a day or two more to sleep in, but seeing as though I don't work until 1:3o the rest of the week, that may be possible.

Anyway, I wish you all the best of luck as you start school, strut around your campuses and hallways with style like I know you will.

Stay beautiful,

Brittany

Roadtrip to KC

Spring Break...is over :(

Spring Break...is over :(
Well kiddos, Spring Break is officially coming to a close and I am so sad. No I didn't lay out on a gorgeous beach or anything, but sleeping in, eating whatever I've wanted, not going to the gym has been perfect.

But classes and work start again tomorrow. This is pretty much what I lounged around in all day (except I wish my vneck had giraffes on it!). Didn't do much, but read a bit for my lit class, sit on Tumblr all day and I signed my lease! So yay for a little productivity, but I'm going to have to do better. So much to do this week!

6 weeks and the summer, I can do this!

Easter Attire

Easter Attire

Happy Holy Week to my religious followers! I'm still trying to get into the habit of updating this blog more often, the posts definitely won't be this frequent once I head back to school, but I figured why not post since I've got the time.

Unfortunately, I'll be spending Easter alone in my dorm this year, but it's all good. If were going anywhere, I feel this outfit would be ideal, a bright skirt really makes the entire outfit pop and the wedges are perfect for spring, especially in nude, still a huge staple this season and of course a black blazer and pearl earrings are timeless, you can never go wrong with them.

What are you alls Easter plans? Going to church? Going out with friends or dining alone like myself? No matter what it may be, enjoy your time!

Watch Me Work

Watch Me Work

Not much to say about this, watches are just my newest obsession!

Let's go to the Beach, Beach!

Let's go to the Beach, Beach!

I may be snowed in during my Spring Break, but maybe creating beach inspired Polyvore sets will bring in the spring weather.

But alas, I am in Indiana looking at mounds of snow outside my window, but when I do finally make it to the beach, I hope I can rock this.

This set is plus size inspired, I'm not a size 2 and that's okay because I can still show off my rocking new body on the beach. This suit is perfect, the black slims the entire body and the rouching of the tummy area actually makes your stomach appear flatter than it may be. The halter feature and the keyhole right below the chest draws the eye up at your goodies, which is always nice.

As far as accessories, going to the beach should be simple, diamond studs, your favorite pair of sunglasses and a cute beach bag to carry books, magazines and especially sunscreen, maybe even an inflatable beach ball, just in case you run into some beach cuties ;)

Whether you're shoveling snow today, or laying out on the beach I hope you stay safe, warm and enjoy it!

What a Stud

What a Stud

If you've been watching the award shows this season you know that earrings are a perfect staple to a plain dress or paint suit. In many cases celebs earrings made the outfit. Now, I'm not a fan of dangling earrings or big flashy hoops. but I believe a girl can still get attention with bold statement studs.

These were just a few of my favorites, but this certainly isn't all. Some of my favorite places to shop for earrings are Claire's, Icing, Charming Charlie and Forever 21. Where do you guys like to shop for accessories?

High Low, Anyone?

High Low, Anyone?

Peplum tops aren't the only hot thing out for spring. I've been seeing this high low effect in almost everything: dresses, skirts, shirts, it's very cute (especially for girls like me who like to wear leggings and need their but covered)!

This material is light, will blow just perfectly in the wind and is dramatic enough on it;s own that huge statement pieces aren't really needed. I immediately thought that wedges were the way to go, but then I couldn't find any cute enough, but I love these white shoes and I think it's a nice touch!

Much like the peplum top I have not found a style (in the dress and skirt that is) that I absolutely love, so I'll keep looking I suppose. Anyone know of any good places to look, especially if you're in the Missouri area!

Well, I'm signing off fore thing night, that 8 hour car ride left me pooped.

Cheetalicious

Cheetalicious
Well, it's been a while hasn't it (so sorry!) It's Spring Break for Mizzou and so naturally I am home for a week, which hopefully means a post a day.

I wish I could say I had an awesome internship lined up this summer or something, but I'll be in Columbia, working and taking a class or two. Sad, but it must be done.

I really need to sit down and look at my schedule to see when I am available to just sit down and post for 30 minutes to an hour. I figured if I am not interning I could at least keep writing and posting polyvore sets. Styling is my ultimate goal, I've got to continue to perfect my eye for fashion.

Unfortunately, I haven't updated my personal wardrobe in some time (*tear*) but with the whole weight loss thing it's been a bit pointless to fall head over heels in love with a clothing item that simply won't fit the same in a month or two.

Anyway, peplum tops seems to be the thing right now and I love it! Prints are also making a come back, so when I saw this shirt, I thought best of both worlds, how perfect! I'm not sure how a peplum skirt, shirt or dress would fit on my body type, but I sure am willing to try one on! If I find one I like pictures will be posted!

What are some of your favorite trends you have been seeing so far?

NYE

NYE

NYE by wanna-be-fashionista featuring donna karan

Well New Years Eve is quickly approaching and besides making resolutions and what not some of you might be in the same boat as me, no finalized plans and even worse, nothing to wear!

I bought a black blazer, but I still really want a pink one, they are just so cute! I'd also love to add some sexy studs to my shoe collection like the ones pictured here (okay, the cheaper version of each would be great).

So since it is a new year of course I have come up with a new set of goals that I'd like to achieve this year and they are as follows:

  • Send someone abroad through AIESEC
  • Travel, a lot. Anywhere and everywhere. Alone, with friends, family, strangers, just see as many places as possible, no matter how irrelevant they may be.
  • Show these last 30-40 pounds who’s boss. Tone the fuck up.
  • Write, sketch, design, style and read more. Finish books, write reflection blogs (where I don’t just bitch), journal more. Who is going to see it isn’t important.
  • Fall in love, with Jesus, yourself, your friends then worry about a boy. By then one will deserve you.
  • Take every day one day at a time. Remember that at the end of the day you have a chance to start over.
  • Breathe. Have fun. Laugh. Go crazy. Relax. Think less. Just live.
  • Walk in your gifts. Get that 4.0. Rock that radio show. Sketch those ideas. Style your friends outfits and love every minute of it.

Those are mine, what are some of yours? No matter what your plans for NYE I hope that you are safe and have tons of fun!

Merry Christmas Eve!

Merry Christmas Eve!

Merry Christmas Eve! by wanna-be-fashionista featuring v neck t shirts

Two posts in one day, whaaaa!?!?! Clearly I've got a lot of time on my hands now that I am home from college, why not start updating this again? I really need to get into the habit of updating once a week at least, I will get better, I will, new years resolution!

Anyway, it is Christmas Eve and my family always makes homemade pizza, cookies (for santa of course) and open our stockings. Since one of my best friends is coming for the next few days I decided I'd attempt to look decent (my family did the same). This is what I came up with. It is definitely a staple for me in the colder months. Vnecks, cardigans, scarves and leggings are just an easy go to, especially since I've got so many of all of them! I also finally bought my first pair of riding boots from Urbanog.com and I love them! They are amazing and I feel like it elevates my outfit to a new level since UGGS didn't seem as popular this season.

But this outfit ia comfy, cute and totally fashion forward, swiped on a bit of makeup, put my hair up in a bun and threw on my glasses and I am ready to open presents!

Whatever your tradition may be I hope you are all enjoying your holidays with loved ones.

Keepin' it classy

Keepin' it classy

Keepin' it classy by wanna-be-fashionista featuring a merino wool jacket

Merry Christmas Eve all! And if you don't celebrate Christmas, Happy Holidays!

It's no secret I haven't been the best at updating this. It's been quite the semester, so much has happened and changed and as it comes to a close all I want to do is have a class NYE with my best friends.

Of course I've got NO idea what to wear, but I was thinking something like the ensemble above might be a good idea, what do y'all think?

I've got the blazer and the wedges, but of course no high low skirt, we'll see what I can come up with in the next few days.

What are you alls NYE plans? Whatever they are stay safe and have fun ringing in the new year!

One Night in the City

One Night in the City

One Night in the City by wanna-be-fashionista featuring pearl jewelry

So, if you follow my weight loss blog (click here) you already know that I have come up with a brand new motivation, New York! I talk about it all the time with my family, friends, strangers, I have to go there, in fact, it's a shame that I haven't been. So, instead of waiting around for my dad to plana trip, I'm taking matters into my own hands, I'm going!

Yup, it't happening. Maybe for Spring Break, maybe over winter break, but I and one of my best friends Travis will be hitting the big city and when I do, I am going to look fucking (excuse my language) great.

I've got about 30 more pounds to lose and I basically let the entire month of September pass by weighing the same thing, so now it is tim to get focused, 30 pounds in 3 months, that's about 10 pounds a month which is totally doable, I had basically been losing about 10 pounds every month until August, so it's time to get back to that because when I step off that plane, I am going to look fucking HOT.

Will I hit up any parties while there? No, probably not, but I dreamed that if I did, I'd wear something like this, perhaps I'll save this outfit for when I've actually landed a job in NYC and get invited to my first social, we'll see.

The point is, the excuses or over and done with, I have enjoyed sleeping in the past two days and loosely eating what I want, but tomorrow it is back to complete calorie counting and getting that 7 AM workout in, I can do it, I will do it and New York, it'll be so worth it.

Until next time,

Happy October!

Happy October!

Happy October! by wanna-be-fashionista featuring strappy shoes

Let's disregard the fact that it took me so long to update this blog! Gosh how time flies, I've been super busy with school starting back up, attempting to still lose weight and of course juggling two jobs, extra curriculars and a social life! To say the least I cannot wait for Thanksgiving, just an entire week to rest.

But there is one thing I am more excited about than Thanksgiving...FALL! I mean c'mon you've got to admit it is basically the best season ever, warm drinks at Starbucks, cute boots, jeans and oversized cardis, fall fashion is the best! Which is why my friends and I took a trip to Kansas City this weekend to update our wardrobe, I made it out with a few things (and still managed to keep my wallet full).

This set just features of few of the things I want to grab before the month is over, here's to hoping I can find them on a budget (and to hoping I can update this more often again)!

Until next time,
